My new baby...

I recently became the proud mama to a baby 650d and it is so beautiful. Love it so much that of course I had to make a layout about it.

The perfect papers for this layout came from my SC 35mm kit which was from a while back and has only been used once (I am a terrible kit hoarder and need to make more use of them!).

This is what I came up with:

Lots of layers of course as well as stitching and wood vaneers...

I am also really loving this little History Garland from MME Indie Chic collection...

The Girls

Today I am sharing a layout I made for the Scrapfriends Yummy Scrap Colour Palette Challenge #5. The challenge was to use the colours inspired by this yummy dish:

I really loved this mix of colours and wanted to use a "produce" inspired picture, which I didn't have but I did some lateral thinking and thought I would use some photo's of my hens who are meant to produce fresh eggs for us but they prefer to supply them when they feel we need them!

I used SC Summer of 69 Kit and some of the add-on papers. I also used a stamp from my Pop off the page kit and some of the little birds from the Elmwood Park kit as well as some Amy Tangerine Muse Thickers - oh how I love thickers!

Head over to the Scrapfriends and play along because there is a $25 gift voucher to the store up for grabs.

Red Hair

Today I am sharing a new layout that I did for a challenge for the Pop Off The Page class, it is a lift from one of Jen Jockish's pages so again I have been playing with layers.

I took this pic a while back when I first dyed my hair red and it was taken with Instagram so it is very enhanced and my hair has faded quite a bit since. Anyway with a pic like this one I knew I would need a bright and colourful page.

I started out by misting my background with Mr.Huey in red and yellow. The page I was lifting used a the new SC Starburst which I don't have so I put my thinking cap on and decided to cut the starburst out of vellum and sew it on using some gold thread.

I also used some gold embossing powder to add some more glitz, along with some sequins. I used some wood veneer and sprayed it with Mr. Huey in Taxi and was so pleased with the perfect yellow that came out.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Layout Reboot

Today I am sharing a layout I made for Lisa Truesdell's Memory Keeping Monday Challenge over at Two Peas (you can watch Lisa's video here). The challenge she set out was to make an autumn (fall) page without using traditional colours.

A couple of months ago I did a layout using a photo I took of the autumn leaves and it was one of those pages that you make up and even as you're making it you aren't happy and it somehow "absorbs" your negative thoughts and... well it turns out yuck. Here it is:

I made it using the SC SoCal kit and I attempted to use Gesso which as you can see is not my friend. I liked the words I used and also the exclusive Tim & Beck paper but I had used the only sheet I had so I cut up the original layout and rescued what I could of the paper. Although the challenge was to use un-traditional colours I really wanted to use that paper because I thought it tied in with the picture but to make it pop I teamed it with Aqua and Navy. I also used my newly learned layering skills.

I am really happy with the result and I have to say I do not regret pulling the original one apart at all.
Hope you all have a wonderful day,

Meeting Amy

A couple of weekends ago I had the great pleasure of meeting one of my favourite scrappers
Amy Tangerine when she came to Australia to promote her Sketchbook line which has recently popped up in our Spotlight stores. This alone is major news because we are a bit behind the rest of the world when it comes to the latest and greatest in scrapping and up until recently the only line Spotlight carried was Kaisercraft which I am not a huge fan of and we have no Micheal's or Archivers to speak off.

Anyways back to Amy's visit, I went to meet her at Spotlight Narre Warren and it was a fabulous morning where I got to meet other scrappers and project life fans and we did a make and take card which is super cute, I got Amy to sign it so I can pop it in my PL album.

Amy was just like she is online - cool, sweet and fun. It really was a wonderful morning and I was lucky enough to win a prize pack of the Sketchbook line which I couldn't wait to get stuck into so it was only fitting that I used it to scrap my photo of Amy and me.

I also attempted to use embroidary floss for the first time and realise now that anyone who can do that is highly skilled because it is hard! I had a failed attempt first and trashed the page. Fopr this page I actually printed out the work I wanted to sew, placed it on to the layout where I wanted it and then poked the holes in with my piercing tool. Here is the finished LO.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend,

Pop Of The Page Class

This month I am taking the Pop Off The Page class at SC which is taught by one of my favourite scrappers Jen Jockish. I have always loved Jen's pages and her ability to create texture on her pages using layers of paper, embellishments, stamping and sewing. I am really enjoying the PDF's from the class as they are so detailed and I have to say it is one of the best classes I have taken.

The first lesson was about creating a traditional layout and I decided to give it a go using a picture I had taken of Melbourne last summer when I first moved here and broke into my Elmwood Park kit which was sitting untouched - I really need to get scrapping before the next one arrives because I recently discovered I have a lot of kits that haven't been played with yet!

I am so happy with the outcome and decided to have a go at the challenge of just layering in a small space, so I scrapped a picture of Winston in a box, one of his favourite places to sit is anybox, anywhere not matter how big or small.

I hope you have all been having a wonderful week and are looking forward to the weekend.
My weekend is not looking like a lot of fun, with terrible weather I have decided to stay in and spring clean but I am sure I will find some time to scrap too :)

Reflection

I recently recieved my Studio Calico Summer of 69 Kit (I am in Australia so it takes a while to get here). When I saw the sneaks I wasn't sure I would like it so much but now I have it in person I absolutley love it! I made two layouts in one day which is a lot for me as I am a bit of a lazy scrapper, a habit which I am trying to change.

I recently took a wonderful photo of Harry (my eldest kitty) enjoying the sun and I was really happy when I looked at the picture and saw his reflection had come out. I knew straight away that it was scrap worthy and that the beautiful yellow paper in the kit would work perfectly. I scraplifted the idea for the layout from SC member @drienne who made this beautiful layout.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful day
