Fabulous Friday Challenge - Doilies and a sketch

It's time for another Fabulous Friday challenge over at Frosted Designs (just in case you are thinking I am completely mad by always posting friday challenges on the sunday, it's because my layouts are revealed on the FD blog on a sunday - I haven't lost the plot... yet!)

This weeks challenge is to use doilies with this sketch:

I had a lot of fun with this! I only had one photo I wanted to use so in place of the other picture and doily I dug into my stash of tags.

Instead of letter stickers or thickers I had this little "Daily Stuff" tag from Bananafish Studios that I thought would be good for a title as well as the ampersand stamp and the Dear Lizzy Life tag.

This weeks sponsor is Vintage Street Market who sell an amazing range of vintage ephemera perfect for all kinds of projects. So head on over the the Frosted Designs Blog for more inspiration and to play along.

I haven't been everywhere...

I managed to get some scrapping in last night (between The Voice and The Following it was a wonder I could tear myself away from the TV LOL). As you know I have really been enjoying Mix It Up with Amy Tan workshop (and if you want a chance to win a place in it play along with the latest Life.Paper.Scrapbook. colour challenge) so I used some of her ideas on this layout.

I had a lot of fun with Amy Tangerine products as well as some bits and pieces from some Studio Calico kits.

I used the stitching kit but when I had finished the thread didn't stand out on the background paper so I grabbed some watercolours and filled it in and how awesome are those cloud wood veneers from Freckled Fawn?

The title came from a pin I saw on Pinterest, I thought it was a lot of fun and I totally relate to it.

LPS Colour Challenge #3

I can hardly believe it has been 3 months since I launched Life.Paper.Scrapbook. and everyday I am so grateful for the wonderful response everyone has given it. Today we have a new colour challenge and it is bright, bold and fun and the prize is just fabulous.

The alphabet tag is actually a cut up sheet of left over October Afternoon Sticky Keys (which was inspired by this layout by Evelyn of Geekgalz - who used a whole sheet of alpha stickers as a background)

and of course I had to add flair and stitching. This stitching was made using the Amy Tangerine Stitching Template which I love - so easy to use and lots of fun designs.

Speaking of Miss Amy, the prize for this months colour challenge is a place in her new workshop, Mix It Up with Amy Tan over at Two Peas.
Globetrotting fashion and scrapbook designer Amy Tan not only loves to mix up the undertakings of her never-boring career and the scenery through her lens, but her scrapbook pages and projects!  In this mini workshop, Amy will teach you how to keep your creativity fresh and exciting by mixing up your supplies, photos and projects.  Create perfectly-embellished layouts you love when you use Amy’s tips for mixing up your supplies.  Give your layouts an unexpected twist when you vary the sizes and edits of the photos you capture.  And finally, prevent creative ruts by changing up the projects you tackle.  Follow Amy Tan’s lead and get ready to mix it up!

I have done the workshop and it is awesome, lots of inspiration and great ideas for mixing up products, projects and lots more. So head on over to LPS and check out the DT's projects for some inspiration and play along with us.

Color Me Scrappy #36

Two posts in one day! Actually I messed up my scheduled post for the earlier one - sorry about that.
Today there is a new challenge over at Color Me Scrappy and it is a very fresh, bright colour palette.

The twist? include a butterfly!

Orange scares me and I am not too good with butterflies because I always think they are very "girly" but I did have this very pretty butterfly in my stash that I did want to use but wasn't sure how so this was just the right project.

I mixed it in with some Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go, a flash card from Fancy Pants and some wood veneer which made the butterfly look a bit edgier rather than shabby chic (another look I really can't pull off LOL)

The sponsor for April is Apron Strings Kit Club and they are offering a $10 voucher.

So hop on over the Color Me Scrappy and be inspired by all the fabulous DT projects and play along.

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge

Time for a new challenge at Frosted Designs and this is a fun one - travel! It is one of my favourite things to scrap but for this challenge I made a card for a friend who is on their way across the globe.

I am totally in love with that city scape stamp that was from Front Row Studio Calico Kit and will use it any chance I get :)

Now you need to play along with this challenge because the prize is fantastic - a travel mini kit from Artsy Albums

So head on over to the Frosted Designs blog for all the details and to see all the wonderful inspiration from the other DT members.

A Day To Explore...

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. I have been busy working on another new project and it looks like my desk has exploded with supplies everywhere (and I only cleaned it last week!) .

I have started the Mix It Up with Amy Tan workshop over at 2Ps and I LOVE IT!!! Seriously, it is the best $12 I have ever spent on a class - I am feeling so inspired. One of the projects she talks about is using various stamps - I won't say too much, if you want to know you'll have to have a look at the class - and it actually got me excited about stamping. I hardly ever touch my stamps (which is weird because I when I started with paper crafting it was pretty much exclusively stamping and card making) so it was a good to make them the focal point of a layout. Here is what I came up with:

All different stamps here including Amy Tan, Kelly Purkey, Studio Calico and Inkadinkado but by using the same ink and laying them out they all work together.

This photo is an Instagram of one of the cobble stone lane ways here in Brunswick. Speaking of Instagram, Paper Issues are having a giveaway of a set of instagram prints from Origami. If you are an Instragram addict like me you need to check it out.

Night In The City

I have been pretty productive at my scrap desk this week which has been so relaxing and I was even going to spend the day there today but I had a bit of an emergency when I was bitten by a rat, yes I said rat. My neighbours cat had caught it and was playing with it out the front (we live in a small group of units) and I'm a bit of an animal lover so I couldn't let him hurt it so I got it off him and the darn thing latched onto my finger and wouldn't let go, ingrate! Meanwhile the cat is trying to climb up me to get it. Anyway I had to go to the doctors for a tetanus shot and some antibiotics (we don't have rabies here in Australia so that wasn't an issue) so scrapbooking took a backseat - there's always tomorrow :)

One of the layouts I worked on earlier in the week was this 8.5 x 11. This is not a size I am too comfortable with but as I already had one in my album I needed another for the back.

I have had this instagram pic of the Sydney skyline on my desk for so long and when I got the cute skyline stamp in a SC kit I knew it would be perfect so I lined it up so it would match with the edges of the picture.

To do the background I took a mask and used watercolour to paint in some of the voids randomly and then highlighted a few of them with white gel pen. Also I used glitter zing to emboss my wood veneer to give a bit of sparkle.
I didn't have a title for the page so in the end I googled song lyrics and came up with these from a song by Joni Mitchell. I liked the idea of a long title down one side so it was perfect.
Thanks so much for dropping by,

Color Me Scrappy #35

I hope you all had a fabulous (and crafty) Easter. I finally found time to step away from the screen and get some scrappy time in which made me very happy.

Today it's time for Color Me Scrappy Challenge #35 and this week the twist is a sketch by Christina Collins which is a lot of fun.

This is what I came up with:

I wasn't feeling in a "bunting" mood so instead I used the triangle shape from the flags as a background and used ink and my very favourite Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars to reflect the path of the original sketch.

To check out the rest of the DT's awesome creations and to play along head on over to the blog.
